Good Deal on Desktop??
I've been researching my new desktop purchase for the last 6 weeks, and I think I've got it narrowed down to this system. I was wondering if I could get some input on whether or not it's a good deal.
I am replacing my 3 1/2 year old Dell 4100. It's been an allright
computer.
Here is what I've come up with:
ABS Awesome 3500 - Asus P4P800S Motherboard - Intel 3.0 / 512KB L2 / 800MHz FSB - Pro Source Luna Mid-tower case with 350W P.S. - 1 Piece 512MB PC3200 DDR400 - Maxtor 120GB ATA150 HD - Albatron GeForce FX 5200 128MB video card - Sony 16X DVD Rom - Plextor PX708A DVD +-RW (from newegg.com) - Internal 8-1 card reader - Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS - Altec Lansing Speakers (from my old system) - Logitech Cordless Keyboard and Mouse - Windows XP Home - Windows Works Suite 2004 - 17" Samsung CRT (From Sam's Club)
Total for PC - $965 , DVD Burner - $177, Monitor - $109.83 total of
$1251.83. I could probably find a cheaper monitor.
Tigerdirect.com has some recertified 17" CRT's for around $60. I'm not sure about those. The Monitor is probably my least researched item. I plan on replacing it with a flat panel when the prices come down anyway, so I could probably go cheaper on that.
Mainly my new computer will be for burning DVD's from my Mini-DV
camcorder.
Any input on this system or on ABS as a company is appreciated. Thanks
Ray
