still running a t-bird 1.1.....never had any probs with amd....when funds are up and i have enough to choose between them......probably will be xp 3000+ 400FSB .......the real question you will need to ask is.....does it matter which one i get if they both do what i want?.......only price will tell.....get a good amd and save the extra money for a good vid-card(ati 9800xt...wink...wink)and you will find that a better investment if you are a game player

but then you have to ask.......ati or nvidia........WOW!!!!that will really get people worked up....LOL

Anyone here aware of the AMD-K6?-2, Athlon, or Duron JPEG Display Problem ?

PROBLEMS:
JPEG Images are Distorted when Displayed by Microsoft Internet Explorer V4 or V5
JPEG Images are Distorted when Embedded within Microsoft Office 97 or Office 2000 Documents
When the Microsoft Windows Active Desktop is Viewed As a Web Page, JPEG Images Appearing on the Desktop are Distorted
When MPEG Video Clips are Played, "Static" Appears Within the Video, Static and Pops are Heard in the Audio
Some Video Games that Utilize DirectX Display Random Spots and Noise or "Hiss" is Heard in the Audio

My local supply for computer parts has given up on AMD processors. Too many machines were brought back. They do this as there living! If you say AMD is identical to INTEL who am i to argue! They are just a small Mom and Pop computer store anyway.

I would rather save my money and get what I want rather then make due. I do realize that AMD has made great strides! I just want my long awaited PC to give me no problems! Thats all!

Thank you for the information that was very informative. I'll still stay INTEL!
Thats your opinion. I run and own a computer store and AMD is the processor of choice in this market.
Never had any issues with an AMD.

Lartamas, You are aware that you are quoting, and answering, a statement made three years ago.

He waited too long to respond, last year his support of AMD would have been valid, since their X2's were beating Intel's Pentiums hands down. But then came the Core 2 Duos and ruined AMD's party.

I agree, but the AMD's are still cheaper.

Just built a AMD 5200X2 system last Dec. I do wish I had waited as the prices for the CPU and RAM would have saved me around $400 today. Oh well, such is life.

True, but Intel keeps dropping their prices as well.As bad as I want a new system,I'm debating holding off until July when they drop their Quad core 6600 down to $260.
