DO NOT BUY Sandisk Cruzermini
Just a heads up to people who, like myself, have noticed the "great" deals on Sandisk's Cruzer Mini USB flashdrives.
I bought a 256meg one for personal use, and used it for all of 2 hours before it died! I went back up to CompUSA, and thankfully they were out of the Cruzers, and were having to substitute them with a Lexar model.
There is just something wrong when the Cruzers are going for 40 bucks for 256mb, and everyone else is charging 70-80 for the same thing.
Just a heads up.

I had a similar issue with a 256meg Secure Digital memory card for my Kodak digi. I took a bunch of pictures and then they would not transfer to my pc and the computer said there was nothing on the disk!!
I went back to Best Buy and the "Tech" employee said that the cards themself hardly ever die it must be the camera, so, I bought a new camera.
I got home and put in the 256 and, guess what, it still didn't work!! Turns out the card (after only owning it for 2-3months) was bad!!
Moral of the story:
DON'T BUY SANDISK!

My friends 128MB Cruzer died (I think it got corrupted). Sandisk is sending him a replacement. But still, I'd hate to have a faulty flash drive with important data die.

Instead of buying another camera, maybe you should have tried another card in the original camera. That would have proved the card was faulty.
I've returned 2 Sandisk cards so far. I was given the same garbage about the cards don't fail. I magically produced my camera and had him try another card. What do you know. He learned something that day. I traded up to the Ultra series CF. Very fast, and reliable so far.
Cheers!

Thats odd. A technian recently visited my college (student there years ago). He said he uses those flashdrives and sells them to people that he fixes stuff for. Couldn't be too bad if he uses them.

My SanDisk 128 has been good....
I'm watching.... I've considered SanDisk to be worth their salt after my helper put his Cruzer 128 through the wash machine with a load of wash. Let it airdry, and it was still good--all data intact and everything. That was within the last six months. We had bought it on one of those Staples specials.
I'd like to hear any other bad experiences.... or good ones, too.

well what would you recommend instead i was looking at the sandisk cruzer mini because it was the only one i had seen that was a decent size. i dont want one of those big flash drives. i want to be able to plug another device in beside it if needed, and i want it to fit into my laptop's usb port which there is not much space around. preferably one available on techonweb.com as i'm planning to get a monitor from there soon.

Well, I think I'd still recommend SanDisk based on my to-date experiences, but I don't see them on Techonweb.com BTW, the SanDisk 128Cruzers are thicker, and when I plug it into one of my "over-n-under" (or side-by-side) USB ports, I can't fit anything in the other port. Minor pain for me, but a major pain for others. The 256 Cruzer is thinner, from what I've seen, and will share the ports nicely.
The ones that I saw on Techonweb I don't have experience with, but would have "favorable feelings" toward the IOmega brand since I've had good success with their other products.
Best Wishes! : )
