Work 2 cents worth from d3e885

DTF is correct. If there is anything I do not or have never needed is an interpreter If I ever have anything to say I WILL SAY IT. Since you do not know me you wouldnt know that.

When I said that he had a jewish name but sounded non jewish I simply ment that. I have been in stores in the San Fran area that I think Express cameras is like. Never having been there though I guess I cant say for sure. BUT these stores were being ran by just as shady a people as those at express camera. Wanting to sell you anything for whatever they wanted and then just wanting you to get out and never see you again. When I delt with express cameas I went into a weak moment and broke my own rules and went for the cheapest price instead of a good price with a trustable company.

In the future If I post here again just read what I type and take it at that.

Dont read anything into it just to keep the posts going. ;^)

Well either way, I advise both of you to stop. I made a suggestion that both of you take this private and keep everybody else out of it. If I see another post regarding this matter and not the subject of the thread . . . well, you won't like me anymore.

****Attention****

BIG NEWS!!!

Below you will find some GOOD FEEDBACK that EXPRESSCAMERAS.com has posted on their website. So, indeed, it does look like happy expresscameras.com customers do exist. HOOORAY!!!! These customers took the time out of their busy days to send expresscameras.com these fantastic comments in writing. It is refreshing to see that while a vocal few seem to have problems with expresscameras.com (and have plenty of time to put it into writing here on reseller ratings - a seemingly inaccurate clearinghouse for consumer reviews), there is a quiet majority who are thrilled by their experience. Finally, those of us who are not satisfied can see that it is our perception that is wrong - because so many others are happy and right.

Expresscameras.com now is my favorite retailer, and I encourage each and everyone to count on their incredibly professional customer service staff.

*****Customer Testimonials*****

Thank you very much for all your help. You answered all my questions and helped me to choose the best camera for my needs. The camera was well packaged and shipped promptly. You have a well-run and very professional business. I will definitely buy from you again, and will highly recommend you to anyone I know shopping for photo equipment! Thanks again....

Phillip T. - Albion, ID

It is refreshing to deal with a company that delivers as promised in their ads. I had previously submitted an order for this item with another internet dealer. They called me to substitute another camera which was made by the same company and they assured me it was identical except for the label. I called the other dealer back and cancelled the order. I then found your ad and after researching it, I submitted the order to you. I liked the way you itemized the shipment contents. Will do business with you again shortly!...

Chris B - Albuquerque, NM

Thank you for the excellent service. I spent quite a bit of time looking for the best price on this camera and ExpressCameras couldn't be beat. I called once to confirm the price and your staff was extremely helpful and efficient. They seemed to have an answer to every question I asked at their fingertips. The second time I called to re-confirm the price and place my order and received the same treatment. A great price and smart efficient service! Thanks again....

Bob N. - Acworth, GA

Thank you so much for your excellent prices and extraordinary service. Greg told me that I should have my camera by Tuesday but I didn't get my hopes up since Monday was Labor Day. It arrived; and it was perfect timing since today was the first day of college project. I'm so glad I found you on the web and I am definitely recommending you to my family and friends. Good job!...

Samantha M. - Miles, IA

I wanted to take a minute to tell you how impressed I am with your company. On Wednesday I ordered a digital camera from you at 10am. Three days later I received the package. I have to tell you, I have purchased many items over the web and through catalogs. Nobody, has ever delivered this kind of service for me. You will have all of my future business and I will make sure my colleagues here at USC are aware of your dedication to customer satisfaction....

Thomas L. - Los Angeles, CA

To whom it may concern, I received my camera today and want to thank you for the extremely prompt and professional manner in which the transaction was handled. I wanted to let you know that the ordering process was a breeze. Great service, great prices and promises that are kept, can only insure a solid future for your business. I will definitely order from you again....

A&M Photo World (Fradulent Business Practices) *PLEASE READ*

I have never dealt with Express Cameras but since someone did mention both A&M Photo World and BwayPhoto (which is one in the same) I'd thought I'd provide some info:

Buyer Beware!!! (www.amphotoworld.com)

While my situation is somewhat resolved (still awaiting a partial credit card refund) I would like to make everyone aware of what most people would consider Fraudulent Business Practices. If anyone has had any experience with this company to please contact the following:

FTC (Federal Trade Commission)
Office of the New York State Attorney General
BBB (Better Business Bureau)
NYC Dept. of Consumer Affairs
NY State Consumer Protection Board
IFCC (Internet Fraud Complaint Center)

and any others you can find.

To make a long story short:

A&M Photo World
337 East 89th St.
Brooklyn, NY 11236

I believe they also go by the name of bwayphoto.

Item: Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel Camera

I received a used/refurbished unit that didn't even work. It was also very scratched and nicked and was missing its Battery Compartment Cover. And better yet there was NO Manufacturers Warranty in the box. They offered an exchange where I would have to pay for my own shipping to send back the damaged unit they sent me...???

Like the other 150 "known" complaints, known being the keyword - I'm sure there are others out there, each and every situation seems quite similar. Follow link for all complaints:

http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1988.html

Also below is the response I received from the FTC within a day or two of notifying them:

Re: FTC Ref. No. 4527744

Dear ****:

Thank you for recent correspondence. The Federal Trade Commission acts in the public interest to stop business practices that violate the laws it enforces. Letters from consumers and businesses are very important to the work of the Commission. They are often the first indication of a problem in the marketplace and may provide the initial evidence to begin an investigation. The Commission does not resolve individual complaints. The Commission can, however, act when it sees a pattern of possible violations developing.

The information you have provided will be recorded in our complaint retention system. This computerized system enables us to identify questionable business practices that are generating numerous complaints and may be in violation of the law.

Thank you for providing information that may be used to develop or support Commission enforcement initiatives.

Sincerely yours,

Consumer Response Center

So I would say that considering numerous complaints listed (http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1988.html) the pattern is there. So I urge all those who have had any dealings with A&M Photo World that you contact all those agencies listed above, especially the FTC.

I bet every company out there that runs scams or operates in bad faith uses this as an excuse. In fact, even one of the moderators here, Richard Cranium, suggested in a thread that a complaint I wrote was a false complaint and that I was working for a competitor's store. I was needless to say rather insulted by such an aggressive and irresponsible challenge.

That's not to say that there aren't false complaints. But frankly, I think there are a lot of false positive reviews as well.

I get the feeling some of those positive reviews here on Reseller Ratings about Express Cameras are false. Each of them seems to hit the primary points that Express Cameras has a weakness in. Especially with regard to prompt customer service. The most recent post is posted by a professional who says that he was very satisfied that Express Cameras corrected a problem very quickly by way of an "expedited exchange." I know of no professionals who would count on anyone but B&H to deliver the right equipment on time. Also, the "necessary accessories" another professional received for free are, from what I've heard, not professional quality items. Something's fishy about those positive reviews.

Sure, there's a possibility that there are false negative reviews also. But, I get the feeling that a majority of the negative reviews on Reseller Ratings are true. Most of them are very lengthy and realistic in detail.

OK... I'll add my experience so far with Express Cameras. I've ordered a Powershot S500 from them. They did their upsell trying to get me to buy an extended warranty and the price was OK so I went with it. I spoke to someone there named Jeff and he basically fell all over himself to make sure I had what I wanted and got it in a timely manner.

Now, granted, I just ordered it. He said I should have the camera this time next week. If I don't, then I'll complain - but until then I'll take him at his word...

So far I've called these guys a couple of times and they've been very polite and very helpful. They were out of stock on one item and said it'd be two weeks before they had it again. Again, pulled no punches and were very polite.

I understand that sometimes you can have bad service with a vendor. I've had my share of headaches with CompUSA. But you rarely see people say good things on the seller rating sites - and very often see people complain.

I'll let you know what happens.... If all goes well, I'll probably order another camera from them....

Got my order...

The ONLY criticism I have about ExpressCameras.com is that you can't figure out if an item is currently in stock by looking at their website. Other than that, everything was as described on their website and by talking to Jeff - the sales rep.

I'll be going back to Express Cameras....

Hi, I think I am in to same boat as the previous posts. I have just purchased a camera from these guys, but if I had read these posts first, I would have never bought anything from them.

I made my purchase last Thursday. Same story: high pressure sales, shady practices, the usual from what I have read. But I stood my ground and told them no on any extras. I was already buying $1600 dollars worth of camera and lenses in one of their packages. My biggest problem is I can't get a UPS Tracking number. I called back Friday to get it. The guy said it hadn't been shipped yet, but an email would be sent with that information. I realized after I got off the phone that I wouldn't receive the camera in time for vacation. I got back on the phone and asked to upgrade my shipping. I remembered the prices from the website and it should have been $19 dollars more. However $60 was charged to my card! Still no Tracking number. But the camera should arrive to me by the next Friday.

I was under the impression that my camera would not be sent out until Tuesday because of the 4th of July holiday. So I called the company Tuesday to get my tracking number. The lady I spoke with said she didn't have that information but it looks like I should receive my package on Wednesday. So now I'm confused. When was it shipped, where is the tracking number, who are you people?

That's when I decided to look up some info on this company. I found all the disgruntled customers. I feel like a fool. Can I get a hug? Hopefully it will turn out like the guy before me and I get what I paid for. I'm thinking with all this attention, they might try to keep their nose clean for a little while.

Oh, I also found out that the business license for Express Cameras is in New York not New Jersey. I did a search on Knowx.com and found that out. I could have purchased the owners and officers names, but that was $10. I'll wait and see how this turns out before I go that far.

A newbie here,

Jud
