use pc 133 put in a used 20 gig HDD
a TI 64 meg vid card
a $30 pc case and ps
a combo cdrom / floppy deal
sb live audio
$25 or less for good speakers

your OS
Ive built a couple of these simple but
effective gamer systems for under $250

dont mean to threadcrap but i would go with over a p3 800 spend the extra 150 and get a system that can last you a year possibly two ya know?

i also agree with golfcart, spend $10 and get a barton 2500+

great setup tho truckie

Don't forget the price of your OS. It's just a pile of scrap without one. Of course you could use a freely distributed OS.

DoH i know there was something that was missing but i couldnt put my finger on it...i thought it was probobally something nonessential i was seeing like a floppy or a modem

if you have an os on your old comp you couldmove that os to this one and make that your linux box...but then you would need another monitor....or a kvm

or you could be like me and get an old 14" for free from school or for like $10 from a local thrift shop for your linux box
