[ECC2] Anyone Alive??

Alright, seems that since I've come back from my, ehh..... hiatus, things are different around here. People seem to be more concerned about what other teams are doing than what their own team is doing. Other folks are upping their post count by spamming the boards? Whooptee doo! Raise the issue with the mods! I dunno what the status is of this whole argument, but I guess it's being worked on.

Meanwhile, there's a bunch of folks crunching away at ECC2, but no one seems to want to say anything about it. Why? If this keeps up, we're going to bleed away members, till it's just me and EvilRick. Don't let all this baloney mess up our team. Keep doing what we've always done.....don't worry about the other teams. We never had this problem before.

If you've got something you want to post about our project, post it! I'd advise not posting your own daily stats , but you know what I mean. And if you don't want to that's fine, too....just shut up and crunch.

Now that that's out of the way.....williamy, you're next!!

Well Thud I'm very much alive.

I've notived with the new version (CG) of the program I have had zero problems with it so there is no need to post about.

The install of the program is really easy, the point server is never down so there's no problem sending in results and there are several different stats servers so getting updates is no problem.

I'm sure if we had problems with the software we'd be posting more.

As far as I know this is the only project where I haven't had any problems with the software or any connection problems. The programmers did a good job in making the client software easy to use and with the service install for Win 2K and XP you never see it running.

We've picked up a few new members along the way but I think we are doing good for our small numbers. Hey 4th overall is nothing to be ashamed of.

Looking at the stats for the last couple months there has been some members that are giving it all they've got. I've seen some of them almost double their previous output. That's what I call team spirit and determination.

I've said this before that I'll be here to the bitter end and will not look into another DC project untill ECC2 is finished. Whether it will be ECC3? or go back to UD.

Rock on, Jim.

Good point about the client, too. I'm actually running the 2nd beta version of the client, and I haven't had any trouble with it, or the server. I might actually get a more recent client one of these days.......

I'd say that we're all pretty quiet because of the very fact that we aren't having any problems.

If something was funky, I'd be speaking up. But how can you speak up when everything is working dandy?

I'm down but still kicking.

Recently had some overheating troubles but they're fixed up now. And Mead is still crunching away, but he never really visits the forums.

Ever since I figured out how to run the client at boot with nice 19 (Linux) you can kind of forget it's running, ksysguard currently shows it using 504k of memory .

Good to see you back Thud!

Where ya been anyway?

I'm still about, but caught up in summer activities away from the computer.

I had a thunderstorm roll through here last night, knocking off most of my computers, but it was time to reboot anyway.

I found a Win 2K server that was not sending in points for a while, so it had an extra 381 to send when it came up. My XP box had the client crash out again, so it's back on as well.

If somebody here can coach this non-Linux brain how to install the client on a Linux box, I could get another 450 on line.

What linux distro are you using?

It's not so bad really... just download the compiled binary for linux and the cli interface for it and stick it in an ecc2 directory somewhere. Then if you're using redhat, just add a script to run in in
/etc/rc.d/rc5.d

(make sure you add an "&" after the line that runs it or it will run it in a console and wait for ecc2 to "complete" before it boots -> ie. never).

Hey Thud!

I'm still here also with less CPU power than before but still crunching a little. I also have some points stored but that will be for later! Maybe we can all do a July 4 dump or something!

Anyway, glad you are back!
