i managed to pull it up, very sad and just when i was going to add 14,000Mhz worth of P4s and 3000Mhz worth of AMDs
hopefully Chris will either pick up the slack sooner, or we'll all just have to wait until September
a sad day my friends.

for those who can't pull up the ECC2 thread, here's the message from JBerg: Quote:
There are some decisions in life that are extremely difficult to make. The decision to make this post is one such decision. But due to circumstances beyond my control, I must announce this information and ask for advice from the member community.
As everyone knows, the economy has had a drastic impact on many companies and individuals. As some of you know, I have been without a job for just over a year. When I helped start the ECC2-109 project, it was felt that I would be able to support ECC2-109 all the way to completion. This decision was not made solely by myself, but also by the project team and my wife.
However due to certain events over the last week, this ability no longer exists. I am facing a high probability of having to close the entire eCompute operation within the next 2-4 weeks. This includes the DP server, the project web pages, the SMTP mail support, and the software support provided by myself.
First of all, please understand that this decision was not entered into lightly. Nor was it a situation that could have been predicted. The entire project team has done our best to find solutions, but are unable to present one at this time. We are continuing to search for a viable solution and have not given up entirely.
At this time, we are faced with two possible options. The one that is chosen, will be the one that provides the optimal chance of continuing the ECC2-109 challenge. But we want to have your inputs to help us in deciding what to do at this point.
Regardless of which path is chosen by the team, I can not promise to be of any help following June. I can only promise to help if/when I can. But due to my personal situation, this may not be possible at all.
Currently our options are reduced to the following two choices. Any alternative choices will naturally be considered. But please note, the project team will make the final choice.
Option #1: Chris has offered to resume the project using all submitted DP values. However due to family and other life issues, he can not resume the project until the Sept-Nov timeframe.
Option #2: Some unknown person takes over the existing project and assumes all responsibility for project completion. This option includes the possibility of an existing distributed group assuming the ECC2-109 project.
Again, please understand that this is a very distressing situation that arrived due to circumstances beyond anyone's control - or ability to predict. I can only offer my apologies to everyone after seeing the huge support from everyone. This includes not only the project team itself, but the entire distributed computing community.

This is indeed bad news
Unfortunately, I don't know how many people will be willing to come back in four months if the project shuts down now. Based on the rest of the posts in that thread, it seems that even if someone stepped in to pick up the project today - they would have to start from scratch and there would still be a significant delay.
I guess we have to hope that something happens at the last minute to make Jay Berg change his mind and continue the project.

That sucks
I'm not part of the ECC2 project, but I know many people are quite dedicated to it.
Hopefully things will work out for JBerg so he can get back on his feet down the road... in reality his family MUST come first.
Good luck JBerg, and take care.

I respect Jay for stepping down to support his family, most men would have just ignored the problem. I'd say, why not donate a few bucks to the paypal deal he's setup?
see here, top of the page: http://ecompute.org/ecc2/
then again, this link that he has on the bottom of the ecompute webpage makes me think twice about the man.
I wish him the best of luck, and a solid job.
