I have a question, what do they mean by on the ECC2 site

So what happens if it is solved?
The two people who found the matching points are each awarded $2,500.

I don't get the "TWO PEOPLE" part, what do they mean by that?


What if a whole team wins? They split 2.5?

If I understand correctly two people will get the matching parts of the algorithm and their machines will send out a notification that they found the matching parts. I could be wrong, its been known to happen on occasion. :P

"The client doesn't notify anyone - since it has no way of knowing a collision happens.
The server accepts the DP values, see's that a collision has happened, and sends up the roman candles.
Collision is when two DP values are submitted that are duplicates, but with different PCT and QCT values."


When a dp is submitted to the server, the server checks the dp with the other dps on the server... *If* it finds a match to the dp on the server then the users will be notified (by JBerg) that submitted the dp... The 2 users will each receive $2,500.
There isn't a way for a team to "win" unless you have a group of buddies using the same email addy.. Then it is up to the team to decide who found the dp and how the money will be divided.
