[ECC2] we need something to get us going

is it just my imagination or are we about ready to slide into third place? the Dutch Power Cows are producing 1000 more DP per day than we are. and Ars is producing 6000 more per day than we are. we really need to recruit some more people!!! any ideas? i've already loaded ECC2 on my three machines, my uncle's machine, and i'm working on more. i currently have 2.65Ghz crunching. but we REALLY need to get more machines on the bandwagon. or we are going to start sliding down some very slippery slopes

I've got it running on 7 machines. 3 in the AMD 1.2G to 1.5G range. 2 in the PIII750Mhz range 1 on a PII450Mhz and 1 dually PII400.

I was planning to add a dually 400 and 450 again but I think I'm running into the same probs as DVNT1 (the dually and 450 are at work and our network has been doggin' it) the proxy comp has been locking up. I am planning on getting the new core to see if it helps.

Seems to help on my main machine here at home. I don't get any more freezes after I close off the i-net e-mail etc.

I'd shut down IE then have to wait 45 sec before I could do anything again. Then again I'm not sure ECC2 was the culprit. But everything is back to normal after upgrading to the new core.

So who knows.... Could have just been my system.

I notice more members going towards UD, FAD, D2OL etc.

I guess all of the DC projects have their own rewards helping out in their own unique way which is great.

I guess each to their own... I plan on getting my brothers machine doing either UD or ECC2 (he doesn't leave his machine on all the time)... Not sure which one right now.

But I hope DVNT1 gets his problems sorted out otherwise I'll have to load ECC2 on the display computers... Wait I can't do that.. It would be kinda nice to see how a couple of 2000+'s throws out the DP's.

But I noticed we are getting a few members joining here and there.

I'm not sure what we have to do (maybe another mass recruitment drive) but those get overstated and annoying at some times.

All I can say is join our ECC2 team and you might win some money and help keep our on-line transactions secure.

the new client works great on my win2k systems so far. very reliable from what i can tell. currently running it on four systems and planning on adding it to a fifth and possibly sixth.

i knew this guy that had access and permission to load ECC2 on a Dell server dual P4 Xeon (2.0Ghz) with like 2GB ram, that would have been sweet to see the DPs come rolling out of it but unfortunately with job changes and all he no longer has access to it

all i can say is load it on everything you've got. cuz we can't let the Dutch Power Cows over take us it looks like DVNT1 is back in the bunch, but you can still load it on those display computers

if anyone has hesitations about joining us or needs help joining and setting up the client feel free to post and we'd be glad to lend a hand!

Just so you know, ECC2 does not run on Pentiums as well as it does AMD's. If you can find a friend w/ a dual MP setup, then beat him about the face, breast, chest, neck, and head . . . or ask . . . if they'll run it for you. It's a lot better than it used to be w/ some modifications to the code that was done not too long ago.

Memory plays no real part either, it's all CPU.

Your enthusiasm is needed at this point in the project. Hopefull others will read this and come onboard. We only have like 40ish members and are still ranked #2. We were only bumped out of #1 because of another team having added 100+ in like a week.

evilrick,

i know it runs better on AMDs. but the circle I run in are all server techies and system administrators that buy computers by the pallet from Dell, and that have high performance servers. all pentiums. i personally think pentiums are more solid and reliable so i don't have any AMDs either. i have one friend that has a XP 2700+ and a XP 2100+ along with several other K6 and Athlon systems. but.... he seems reluctant to do anything i'm going to keep pounding him so well see how it goes.

my enthusiasm is all in trying to get others to join on the bandwagon and some excitement going. we need more DPs, doesn't really matter how we get em. like i said just get ECC2 on more machines, load it up wherever you have permission. thats what i'm doing
