[ECC2] Problems

I am having some issues running [ECC2] on my home system. While running it I get alot random reboots when I am away. This occurs even more if I use the pc without shutting [ECC2] down.

I have no problems if [ECC2] isnt running. I can play GTA3, Morowind and CS without any problems as long as the [ECC2] client is disabled.

I have removed and reinstalled the client several times including deleting the install folder. Disabling background apps make no difference. Power management is disabled.

I believe I have set the Process and Thread priorites as low as possible. They are as follows:

// Process Priority
// NORMAL 32
// IDLE 64
// HIGH 128
// REALTIME 256

ppri= 32

// Thread Priority
// LOWEST -2
// BELOW_NORMAL -1
// NORMAL 0
// ABOVE_NORMAL 1
// HIGHEST 2
//
tpri= -2

My system specs are:

Win XP Pro (fresh install a week ago)
Athlon T-Bird 1.0 Ghz (not overclocked)
ABit KT7A Motherboard
640 Mb PC 133 Micron memory
ATI Radeon 7200 64 MB DDR

If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

You might turn off the "reboot on error" thing to check what the exact error is, although surely this is logged somewhere.

To open Event Viewer, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Event Viewer.

Then post here

I did the same thing to a system of mine......Reset the priority to idle (setting = 64)!!

normal actually uses the cpu consistently, instead of just on idle cycles (which is the best setting for a computer that is used to do other things concurrently). This causes numerous application hangs on a system that you will see in the event log.

Use the other settings only on a cow that does nothing but crunch ECC2 all day, because then you don't need the other power.

I turned off "reboot on error" with no affect.

I checked the event viewer and it had an acpi error which gave me a link to MS. The website told me that "The system BIOS attempted to incorrectly access hardware resources concurrently with the operating system. This type of access cannot be synchronized and can cause system instability."

The correction is to update the bios. Which I will do next.

I am not sure if the acpi error is the problem but it cant hurt to fix it. You know I am only doing this for the good of the [ECC2] TechIMO team. Wish me well...
