Ecc2 for linux is here!
Sort of.
I'm running RedHat 7.3 right now with blackbox, and using wine (Wine Is Not an Emulator and it shows!) I'm actually getting about 10-20 k/s faster than in Windows 98SE. Runs perfectly too with net access and everything just in case you folks have idling Linux cows waiting for the ecc2 Linux client to come out... no need! Just run it straight from your MS Windows partition if you dual boot and the stats and node data will stay the same too.

Come on Sam.!!
Don't get my hopes up like that!!!!
Oh, I don't like Wine, so I don't have it installed! So... I guess I better wait for a native linux client!

Wow, I'd have thought more people would have been interested to know they could run ecc2 linux with all of the effort of typing "wine CLIclient.exe" at a command prompt.
It's been running solid since that post, no slowdown, no muss, no fuss...

P.S. I almost set on Linux Mandrake 9.0--just need to dual boot a current build or cobble some basic parts into a all-Linux box.

Damn Doooooog, where have ya been???? ECC2 is the follow up to the ever popular ECCp-109 (which was solved a couple weeks ago) DC client. ECCp-109 was a competition to crack a 109bit encryption, ECC2 is the same thing but with a 131bit encryption instead.....

Alright! Wish I'd seen this thread earlier...
Yep, I'm running the lastest CLI client fine under wine, getting 800kIt/s (is that any good? - XP 1800) and waiting for my first DP!
Didja notice - ECC2 uses cygwin.dll - does this count as double emulation? (Linux under Windows under Linux!)

Hey, when I got my athlon compiled kernel installed, the rate went up another 20k/s or so, so now it's running 30-40k/s faster than my MS Windows install.
