Microsoft Office 97 $41.55

I am still using the Office 97 I bought super cheap waaay back when.

Does everything I need to do.

For those wanting these Office programs:

Word 97
Excel 97
Outlook 97

This is a fairly inexpensive way to get them.

From the Vio Web site:

Office 97 Small Business 5.0 OEM

Version: FULL
Availability: Ships Free Today!

FULL - Full Version Retail
Full version means that you are a new user to the software package. Please make sure you review the specification of the software package to insure you will be able to install the product. Full version contains all media, instructions and other documentation needed to use the product (unless manufacturer does not include).

You may want to buy this older version to allow buying an upgrade version of a later Office offering. It would be safest to call Vio to ensure this particular product version actually IS the "full version" and if it can be used to upgrade.

I know that eBay can be cheaper in some cases but sometimes folks want a brand new verified original software.

Vio has excellent ratings (I left one for them) and they have treated me well. The link is to the product page with links to the rest of the site.

Okay, that's my "good deed" for the day. No, it's not the greatest deal in town but for guarenteed original licensed Micro$oft Office software it's not too shabby.

Are you running Office 97 under Windows XP? We've had problems at my school when we tried to.

Been using Office 97 pro version with XP home for several months with no obvious problems.

I haven't used PowerPoint or Excel or Outlook, though.

Used Access and Word many times and all features appear to be functional.

Of course, systems vary such as the different softwares installed etc.

I use Office 97 with XP. The only thing that won't work is Outlook. Other than that no problems.

I think our problems may stem from the way in which it installs itself and user permissions. I'm assuming you guys have admin accounts, not limited user accounts.

I do use OpenOffice at home for personal use. My school already has the license for Office 97 however. But now we have moved on to Office 2003.
