[FAD]Laptop out of service until further notice

Like the subject says, my laptop is out of service because the harddisk went kaput this morning when I was sending in finished jobs on it. At least the jobs made, but the harddisk didn't

Now I'm down to one computer until I receive my MSI694D Pro with dual 733Mhz processors.

Don't feel bad gino, at least yer' still crunchin' and that's what counts.

I lost "BigMan" (1.3GHz Athlon) last week. The video card went out for the 2nd time in 1 1/2 yrs. and when I put my spare 2MB ATI Mach64 in, it went out within 15 min. I'll have to RMA the original again, and I need to get to the bottom of this before I go broke on the vc or PNY refuses to RMA again.

Actually, its not all that bad, it was only 233mhz. but the problem is that I don't have a silent 24/7 rig to run. Maybe I should fit a case with liquid bearing fans if I find them...

Why did the mach64 go out?
How many times did you have to RMA your PNY total?

What model was it?

Not sure yet why the Mach64 went out, but I'll get to the bottom of it.

This will be the second time I will RMA the PNY Gforce2, MX400.

I nosed around ATI's website and found the mach64 product family.
According to their spec page, the mach64 is PCI, likewise the MX400?

I'm planning on using a Diamond Viper V770/Z200 for my server.

I think that the V770 is based on the Nvidia TNT2, or least that's what's identified as in WinXP.

Nope, the GF2 MX400 is AGP, and yes the Mach64 is PCI!

That was the only thing I could find in the stack quick to put in.

Maybe your card is unlucky :/
I guess the mach64 works. Just sounds weird that one AGP card goes bad and that the other goes bye-bye after 15 minutes. Maybe it just plain kicked the bucket.

Ah what the heck do I know???
