[FAD] AGG, won't install
alright,
Windows 2000 SP2 [upgrade to SP3 on wednesday]
XP2700+ on 8rda+
dial up connection
why can't i install? i get the same error message everytime, and its telling it to me WAYYY too fast. as if it does not even check for a connection to the net. Every time i click register, i get error message (22) and cannot install because im not connected to the internet... even though i am dialed up when it happens. It refuses to use the internet, or even look for it.
what the hell is going on here? ive got all this idle system power, and i can't even GIVE it away... LOL im at my wits end on this one. anyone else got a fix for this?
*not to sound rash or blunt, but im not going to the FaD forums to figure this one out, im too tired.
thanks

Where is FAD installed to? If the login does not have write access, you can get these errors.
Also, confirm that dial up is attached before trying to install. Maybe it's not finding the connection at first (not likley, but possible I suppose.
Not sure what else could be wrong.
Cheers
Mick

well perhaps one of you can tell me whats going on with this [perhaps they are related]
Opera will not dial up on its own, i had to make a retarded icon on the desktop to dial up, why won't it dial up when it requests use of the port?
Im logged in as administrator, i would hope that all files have those kind of liberties allowed. I checked the folder itself, and just allowed everything, but for the most part, it had everything allowed that it should have.
*oh, FaD is installed to C:\program files\find-a-drug

Sounds like your default connection to the net is through a lan card, not the modem,
Go to control panel, then internet options, connections and make sure the settings are correct. (I know this is Internet Exploiters settings, but every program uses these settings to connect to the net, Including Opera and FaD)
IF it is not set up correctly, then it won't try to connect because it doesn't know how to try.

I had the same problem for a while on 2 of my machines.
I don't know what caused it, or why.
I used them as remotes off a couple other machines for a while and then when rebooting one time, they started on their own!?!
They've been working well ever since!
