[FAD] Obituary: Girlfriend, 11/1/2001 - 3/21/2003
It is with much sorrow and regret, that tonight I report the passing of Girlfriend ([FAD] node 2000395).
Girlfriend passed into the great beyond last Friday at 7:20pm while joyfully crunching two jobs from a sudden an massive Hard Disk seizure.
She will be missed by her owner, Alicia. Her brothers and sisters, Wolverine, Bozo, Big Man, and Tweetybird, and her builder, sharder8.
She will be re-incarnated as Girlfriend2, by the gift of an extra Hard Disk from Bozo, but will assume a new [FAD] node number. Compliments of Bozo, she will also recieve a new sibling named Bradley. Bradley will join Girlfriend2 temp., until he moves on to his new owner (sharder8's great-nephew) sometime this summer.
For the generosity shown by Bozo, he will recieve a new 120GB HDD to replace the two smaller HDD's he is giving up.
Any donations, can be sent to the Maxtor Quality Assurance for use in improving their vigilence and training.

RIP Girlfriend.
Sorry to hear about your loss sharder8, but I'm sure she has gone to a better place. Somewhere where the keys are pressed lightly and the mouse handled like glass, where there is an endless amount of ram and wattage etc etc.
Hopefully Girlfriend2 and bradley will crunch with grace and rememberance for what was.
(I hope that made sence, I've just finished a 12 hour night shift and I'm half asleep )

OMG! I can't believe I read that!
May she enjoy the big semiconductor god in the sky.

Well, it isn't the whole thing that died at least. Just a hard disk. It's more of a problem when your cpu and board goes up in smoke. (like my PIII did)
Hopefully you have back up to crunching ability soon.

Sorry to hear about your loss, Had my wifes Athlon 1Ghz eat itself, the mobo (K7S5A) is dead, looks like a power regulator went, (I tested a new Processor in it and same, HD light comes on fans spin up, Then nothing, no beeps, no nothing, total flatline.
But I moved my old XP1600(@1.53Ghz) to my wifes machine, and put my XP2100 (@2.16Ghz sofar) in my machine, I'll have to pick up another mobo to get Happy running. (maybe tomorrow.)
