[FaD] WinXP with THINK?

I have a few WinXP machines that my family uses but every time my sister goes on under my name, she screws something up. So, I set her up with her own account with "limited access". The think.lgo file was already in the startup menu when I added her name, but it does not start up. Instead, it gives an error saying that it can not write to the file. Is is possible to give her account read/write access to c:\program files\find-a-drug\ without letting her mess anything else up?

Should be easy if it's an NTFS partition that winXP is on. Harder iof it's FAT32.

See this little tutorial if it's NTFS. The basic idea can be applied to any folder.

Cheers

As mick says, just change the write permissions on the FaD folder !

Well, it's just my luck that it's FAT32. It was a fresh install of Win98 and a week later I got another XP key at a local show, so I just upgraded it. Is there a way to change over to NTFS w/o reformating?

here is the link on how to do it, though it is better to do it from scratch ( due to the way the conversion process deals with cluster sizes )

Thanks so much for the link. I would do it from scratch, but my sister is afraid of losing data (which has happened so many times in the past). Most of the times it was my fault though. She would get home from school and see a new operating system on her computer. She always claimed the system was stable, but I was never satisfied until there were no bugs left.

One word Kc - BACKUP!

That way you can always restore for her!

That's a good idea mick! Considering we have a network with over 200 gigs of storage space on it, I guess I could back up her five megs of word documents.
