[FAD] Help

Ok, just got my first computer build up and runing, it's a super machine.

I downloaded and activated FAD client, registered and joined the TECHIMO team...

Now how do i use FAD? I know this is a common question, i have never DC'ed before

EDIT: I have it running, cpu use it at 100% but my pc runs fast it has completed 2 so far.

Is this all it does? If so i am on a good track

Basically you install it and let it run, hehe. The client should function fully automatic. Ofcourse it's fun to check the stats and see wether everything is going smooth once in a while.

And... welcome to the team! (almost forgot that)

yes, that's all it does.

like any good DC client, it just runs in the background, crunching away and it sends the completed work units back 'home to mother'.

I have it running all the time since i have a powerhouse, even though i have 100% cpu process all the time, my machine still runs fast.

Havn't tried it playing a game, it might work but i won't risk it. I'll turn it off during games

I run it while playing games, no problems at all, It's actually very responsive (slows down when your CPU is needed by something else)

It gives no problem playing games. If it does, you can still disable FaD to use OpenGL.

The reason why it is at 100% CPU usage is because it uses all power that is LEFT. During games, it will work a little slower so that your games can run at full speed like they always do.

The linux version is a bit different, if I am compiling something, THINK seems to compete against G++ and make for the CPU time. THINK will still be using 50% of the CPU according to top, and the other 50% is shared between my other processes. I thought it was meant to scale down when you run other stuff?

Maybe you should report that on the FaD forums. The linux client is only a beta, remember that

Hey iNeb, what nick to you join TechIMo under?

You aren't there as iNeb.

you're not the interloper mondobyte, are you?!?!

And, yeah, report any probs/comments about the linux beta on the FaD forum. They are extremely responsive to suggestions!

Cheers
Mick
