there are two theories i'm aware of for repairing computers.
one is the 10% rule, meaning you must be 10% smarter then the computer you are working on, this works well for just about anything, from computers to cars.
the other, applies mostly to computers, that is when it works, and odesn't make sense, don't ask questions, just be glad it works. chances are, if you trouble shoot a problem that fixed itself, you'll end up resurfacing it again and it won't go away the second time...
the first rule is the best one, but once in a while, we are all stumpped as to what actually fixed a problem, it's happened to me several times and i just don't ask questions. i simply make sure it's fixed for good, then live and let live.
