Laptop troubleshooting help...

I have a hp zt1000 laptop that refuses to boot. With the a/c power supply plugged in, all the external lights come on, such as the front panel back-lights, the a/c power light, even the battery light with and without the battery in (amber- not green). Other than the lights, there is no action in this laptop at all. I do not hear the fan or the hard drive running. Nothing is displayed on the screen.

I have tried to reseat the memory within the laptop and I have also tried pushing the reset button. I have tried taking the dvd drive and the hard drive out and starting, but still nothing. HP claims that it could be static that is holding it up. I went through their procedure to remove it, and of course nothing.

So, could this be bad RAM, bad mobo... bad everything...?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Matt
