Hmm I stick with the 5.5.5.1 version than. It lets me still change all settings and speed, just close the wizzard. Don't know about the newest versions though.
Here is some setting you can change with burning with native XP burn utility.
Right click on the CD-RW drive and click
properties
Then go to
Recording, its the last tab.
You can't disable the image writing though
