The good news that I have the Mitac 5114vu operational. Never one to leave well enough alone, I have discovered a nine-pin arrangement on the Motherboard which states 'USB2" on the silkscreening. The configuration is that of 2 parallel, five-pin rows, with Pin one the upper left hand side. On the far side, opposite end of the array, where pin 10 ought to be, is a space. This array merely sports nine pins, thus:

This motherboard came out of a Compaq Presario 7360, yet upon downloading the Mitac 5114vu manual at
www.motherboards.org/files/manuals/78/5114VU.pdf I can see differences. For instance, there are no FAN2 pins - just nubs.
The motherboard comes with 2 USB ports out of the backplane.
For USB port add-on cards, I have one each of twin arrays that would be mounted in the space for an expansion slot. Two cables run from the backside of these ports and terminate in one of two different ways.
The first USB add-on port has two separate 5-pin connectors in the stardard USB fashion.
The second USB add-on port has two cables running out to a 10-hole female connector, but its color scheme is this:
1- red 2 - black
3 - white 4 - black
5 - green 6 - green
7 - black 8 - white
9 - black 10 - red
I have not had luck securing an answer from either Compaq or Mitac.
Any suggestions as to which USB to use would be appreciated. Best
