Well ... this is what happens when you plant modern DIMMs in old systems. The SDRAM chips are 256-Mbit technology (32x8 geometry), while at least the Intel BX boards you have there cannot address chips larger than 16x8 (128-Mbit tech). The Athlon board should do the trick with a BIOS update, if one is available (DFI isn't too good at that though).
You need to buy a double-sided, 16-chip 256-MByte DIMM.
