you mentioned using a Canon printer, this don't apply to you exactly but in some printers it is Important to use their papers.
A while back Epson inks did not bond/react well with other papers, something about a chemical reaction..
In your case I'd reccomend Kodak Heavy Gloss Paper.
It's easy to find 58# Kodak Glossy but the Heavy paper is not ..
The weight of it is 117# on some packs it shows 110#
Rumor has it that ink jet prints fade quickly, as fast as 3 months.
I have some "Portraits" printed on my HP "original" PhotoSmart printer that look new after 3 years. This is prints displayed, not in a album.
BTW, never expose your prints to Flourescent lighting or reflected sunlight. UV Rays will degrade the prints super fast.
I started using the Kodak 117# paper when ValueAmerica had it for $15.00 / 50 sheets and the HP Premium Glossy was about $50/50 sheets. big difference between a dollar per sheet and 30 cents.
