Well, at first blush, it sounds pretty discraceful, Vern. But as you yourself note,

meaning that the only people who will get a tax break are the ones who
actually pay taxes. A single mother of two making less than $18K a year falls below the poverty line (I believe,) and doesn't pay hardly anything.
Therefore, this doesn't affect her. Plus, the Republicans have resurrected Reagan's "Voodoo Economics" (particularly the "Trickle Down Theory", in which it was hypothesized that by giving the rich even more spending power [$$$$$] this money would "trickle down" to the middle class....didn't work, of course...) so look for huge entitlements given to the wealthy, also.
It's gonna be a high ol' time at the Gummint Feeding Trough...
