Problem is, that will not remove
ALL all of AOL!
AOL also modifies your winsocks and registry entries and by using the Add/Remove program, it will not correct these problems. There are also a number of AOL files that the Add/Remove program won't remove and you can't find them by simply looking for "AOL" in the name. That's why most Tech's recommend Fdisk, reformat, and reloading your OS.
(I've also had several AOL TS people verify this and recommend F/R/R!)
Come to think about it, AOL will also modify your modem drivers and when you remove AOL, it will not change them back. You have to manually uninstall and re-install your modem or load a different set of modem drivers to get your modem to function properly again.

BTW, MSN doesn't screw things up this bad!
