Cable modem speeds...

I just got a new cable modem from OOL after using the 3com cmx for 3 years which was an upgrade from their old non-DOCSIS lancity modem. Now, when I run a speed test at dslreports.com, I get incredibly high numbers.

2003-01-11 12:46:33 EST: 8706 / 936
Your download speed : 8706791 bps, or 8706 kbps.
A 1062.8 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 936621 bps, or 936 kbps.

Will I ever be able to achieve these results? I can download this file at 1.13Mb/s but will I ever see these speeds in real life? Same thing for upload... I can u/l to OOL at 950kb/s, but will I ever achieve these speeds in real life?
