With Win2K you can boot to a command prompt from the install CD.

You might want to try this and see if you can use a command prompt to walk your way to the file and copy the contents to another directory.

Let me know if this works. BTW, what file system are you using with XP? Is it NTFS?

Why not try using Windows Explorer to find the folder in question, right click on the folder, select PROPERTIES, and view the SECURITY tab (assuming you are using NTFS), or the SHARING tab (if you are using FAT32) and make sure you allowed yourself permissions to access the contents of the folder. As administrator you can grant yourself permission to reset the permissions for both these locations.
