Just looking at the $ saved from turning the PC off, not the greenhouse gases.

While this figure might be true, how much would it cost the company if the machines were not being used during working hours because of updates and such. The company I worked for left the PC's running 24/7 because we pushed updates and patches during non business hours. If we were to push them during business hours we would have lost $150 per person per update.
