I am having a similar problem. I installed RH Linux 8.0 and now I can't get XP to load up. I haven't tried this yet(I'm in class right now) but.....

Start to the recovery console, type the command FIXBOOT at the prompt.

I'm going to give it a try and I'll let you if it works.
