If DSL is cheaper and there's not much of a difference in performance, cheaper sounds better to me. The dedicated line thing, however, is a fallacy, since even a crowded cable is usually faster than a dedicated DSL line. Same with security, not much difference as long as you use a router and decent firewall. But check the rating of the ISP first. Saving a few bucks for poor service is no bargain.
