I'll go out on a limb here and say
it's not your hard drive.

If your hard drive was slowing down, your computer would have crashed already and your data would be corrupted.
That said, you definately want to take it out of the cage/drawer and run it, and let the fans in the drawer run too. If it makes the noise again, you'll be able to tell which, although I'm pretty sure it's the fan.
