oops..sorry about the link..wasnt thinking of it at all. But to me it was important to the question cuz I needed to describe the problem..didnt think of it being a link at all.
Anyway, problem was solved by installing Norton20002 antivirus and doing live update. Upon running scan, it found 6 different viruses that were "auto update" type deals. Had to quarantine them all. Then did an EXTENSIVE registry search for ALL related links to the virus files. Deleted all cookies again, temp files etc. Finally got rid of it. Incidentally, I did run adaware..she had like 46 offending things lol. But evidently it didnt find the particular ones.

I cant remember all the names of the viruses but they were things like..

bvt.exe....in registry and msconfig startup
coolstuff.inf
ausvc.exe..which probably means "auto update service"
