Gateway Sucks...

Why does gateway suck? Well, from a computer repair standpoint, I have a few reasons. For one, they have these screws that require a moon shaped screwdriver for easy removal (the screws are round so a wrench won't work...the only way to get them out is to use pliers and it takes forever). Two, their cases absolutely suck because you have to remove 18 bajillion parts just to remove the hard drive or floppy. Three, because my company also sells computers, I realize that building a quality machine is not that hard at all, especially when you use good quality parts. Someone already said "nvidia makes a lot of video cards" and they were exactly right. Some nvidia cards absolutely suck, and most of the Gateway machines I have worked on have had the suck nvidias with 6ns chips made in Mexico. When your computer runs out of warranty, or if you want to add a peripheral before it does, a computer repair shop will wince and start dry heaving when they see you walk in with a Gateway. Dell is better, they make more money, and they're even cheaper most of the time. Gateway? What a joke. I especially like the Gateway stores...you can walk in and ask them if they have something really common, like a round ide cable, and they'll look at you like they have no clue what you're talking about. A bunch of geniuses, if you will. Anyway, that's my rant.

Oh yeah, we called Gateway to get them to send/sell us a screwdriver so we could take out those damn moon shaped/half hex shaped screws, and they were not to eager to do so. Considering, however, that they are required by law to do so, we threatened legally and they sent the screw driver as requested. So, if there are any computer shops out there that have to deal with the same thing (and not all gateways use these screws), give them a call and demand a screwdriver.
