Well, that deserves a reply.
Regardless of whether your "running gag' as you refer to it, is a total and complete fabrication or not. Unfortunately the audience that listens to them believes that it is true. Therefore in good conscience the station must make up for the lack of intelligence of the listeners and stop this "bit".
