Volunteer,
I know you're probably looking for an oem drive from a retailer, but I've had very good luck picking up 7200rpm(Hitachi) drives from E-Bay. Just make sure to buy them from someone who will guarantee the drive will not arrive doa, and possibly at least a 30 day warranty. The last two I purchased were 80gb's. Very fast little drives for older machines. I think I've upgraded about 8 or 9 of these for friends/family in the last year and a half - all still going strong.
I'll also mention, I still have my older notebook(Compaq 2010US) that I'm using to learn Ubuntu, after maxing out the ram, you can usually upgrade the cpu too. A lot of these came with celeron processors and you can put a Pentium mobile in these as well. Really speeds things up. I went from a 1.3ghz Celeron to a Pentium M 1.6ghz. There really is no comparison for the speed difference, it was like night and day.
Best,
