There are plenty of links about AC.com, especially from Pricegrabber.com...
More and more complaints about classic B&S from this company..

Why are some model numbers different on Accessory circut web site from the manufacturer’s web site?

5D MK II LP E6 Battery Leaking Acid or Overheating ?
Jerry G [Subscriber] , Mar 20, 2009; 12:36 a.m.
I just bought a Canon 5D MK II and wanted to get another battery. I researched the threads on this site and found that there was a major shortage. I also went to the big name online stores and found the same there.
There was a link on Photo.net to this site accessorycircut.com were they show the original Canon LP E6 as "IN STOCK" . I placed an order last Saturday and had a message back to my email saying that my order was "under review ".
On Monday , "Steve" leaves a message to explain the back order. I did not call him back. Monday night I went to their website to still see that the Canon LP E6 was still "IN STOCK" .
I talked to Steve on Tuesday morning and asked him why his website still shows the Canon battery available, and why he is trying to sell me a replacement battery and charger. He dodged the question by telling me that the Canon batteries that were sold separately from the camera have been overheating and leaking acid. Canon has not determined the cause and that there isn't any batteries shipping soon.
At first I canceled my order, but Steve was persistent and all I could think about was having a battery run out while in the field, and that a back up even an off brand would be okay...
I reluctantly ordered the replacement at a higher price and I will have it tomorrow. Steve also told me to charge my Canon battery in the replacment charger to avoid any over heating or acid leaking...
Their website still has the LP E6 as "IN STOCK", Canon LP-E6 Rechargeable Lithium-ion 3347B001 Battery Pack for the EOS 5D Mark II at AccessoryCircut.com
Has anyone heard of any problems with the LP E6?
Should Photo.net have an online retailer that claims availability and then reviews your order only to switch it?

Stay away from that dealer. There are only four reviews at Store Ratings and Reviews by Real People - Trusted Online Shopping. Three of the four reviews have been posted by themselves I think. We can't find the extra batteries simply because demnand is much greater than supply at this point of time. I spoke to the supervisor of Canon technical team today at Canon Factory Service Center in Jamesburg, New Jersey.

You got taken by these guys with the bait and switch tactics. Want to sell you a higher price "no name" replacement that isn't probably worth it. It is probably to late now , since you already ordered it. I had friend get taken like that on Nikon body he bought over year ago.

"...Canon batteries that were sold separately from the camera have been overheating and leaking acid" I will let you know if mine ever overheats and leaks but you may have to wait a long, long, long, long while.
Early 'generic' batteries are possibly not fully compatible with the Mark II and are generally not chargeable with the Mark II battery charger. Perhaps newer ones are or will be. I would not risk using one is a $3000 camera.
Genuine Canon batteries are readily available if you know where to look (ebay has lots of them).

You better check if these guys charged your credit card already - and if they did, call your crdit card company and cancel the transaction. You will most likely NEVER see that battery. What a stupid and ridiculous statement from this outfit!

Get the Battery Grip BG-E6. Besides the capability of holding 2 LP-E6's at the same time, it comes with a magazine that can hold 6 AA size battery.
I use BG-E6 plus Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable batteries now while waiting for my back ordered LP-E6's that were ordered 2 months ago!

BTW, cusious to see if anyone ordered the LP-E6 at Adorama at the price of $99.95 and received the battery?
One day, I saw their Website mentioning that the batteries were shipping from the warehouse to them in the "stock notes" and this note just lasted for 1 to 2 days and then back to back order status. That note was posted after they have increased their price to $99.95.
We people ordered the batteries at $79.95 more than 2 months ago and are still in back order!

Funny I keep hearing about these battery shortages when i walked in to my local store and got one off the shelf for 79.99 here in Seattle.
Thomas Chung , Mar 20, 2009; 02:31 p.m.
Lucky you, may be you can buy more and sell them $89.99 on-line

Colonial Hobbies in Orlando has them also. I recently traveled and forgot my charger with my extra battery. You think that finding a battery is hard to do, try finding an OEM charger....... not happening. Luckily the Mark II lasts forever on a fully charged battery. My wife eventually overnight shipped the charger to me but I got a brief taste of the scarcity that surrounds this camera and it's accessories. In California the Best Buy store in Hollywood was the only store that stocked the camera.

Thomas,
"BTW, cusious to see if anyone ordered the LP-E6 at Adorama at the price of $99.95 and received the battery?"
I ordered mine from Adorama, it was $79 and I received it in December (ordered it November). I think the demand is just very high. Can't fault the store for the manufactures shortage.

i would say stop panicking see if you get the battery and tell everyone how it works i need one badly and if canon cant produce it im gonna do what you did and buy one from accessorycircut.com as well

Mike,
I received the battery but I'm apprehensive to put it into my camera...The Canon Battery is DC 7.2v at 1800mAh
The replacement battery is a Premium Tech that is DC 7.4v at 2000mAh.
The slight difference in voltage is enough to keep me from trying it.
Hmmm, nobody really commented about the batteries being faulty by leaking acid or over heating...
Mark T , Mar 26, 2009; 03:55 p.m.
ditto.that difference in voltage is what scares me. when i got my generic ones i made sure that the ones i got at least had the same voltage output.

I just today ordered a Canon 5d with battery grip from B&H Photo. They did not have stock on the LP E6.
I did a google search and found the battery listed at Amazon.com and a link there to a vendor AccessoryCircuit.com. I placed an order for 2 batteries, listed in stock on their website. I received the email confirmation, then the phone call with the "leaking battery" story as reported by Jerry G and the same offer to buy" their " battery kit. I declined, cancelled my order and received a confirmation email of the cancellation.
MPolfer mentioned Colonial Hobbies in Orlando in his post. I live in Tampa area so I called Colonial. They had six batteries remaining of a stock of 50 recently received from Canon. I ordered two and they will ship to my house in Dunedin. $89.95 each plus shipping.
I spoke to Frank at Colonial. He acknowledged the supply shortage, NOT the leaking problem. So much for the veracity of Amazon.com and their vendors. And forget dealing with AccessoryCircuit.com. Bait and Switch. I've read a lot about that lately while researching my equipment purchase.
Stick with reputable vendors like B&H, and OEM parts. Why risk saving a few bucks when you've invested large dollars in photography equipment. B&H is reputable, and the prices are good, the service is excellent. They may not be the cheapest, but the cheapest vendor is another AccessoryCircuit.com

accessorycircut.com is a bait and switch, probably just another new name for one of the Brooklyn scheisters that you should never order from.
I placed an order for a canon battery friday and get the call on Sunday and the offer of the non canon with charger. I told them I don't want to change the order many times and finaly he said they would cancel the order.

Canon will not even admit there is a problem with supply, they tell you to try various dealers knowing there are no batteries out there. I'm disgusted by the Canon lack of care for their customers.

I've neen using the Premium Tech charger and it works just fine!
The only inconsistency is that upon inserting it, the camera menu reads "unrecognized battery" message and I am not able to view the amount of battery life left.
Besides that I've used it for several months. I've left it in my cam for extended time and have not seen any problems.
Hope this helps.
Ren Ket , Oct 01, 2009; 12:40 a.m.
I take it back.
Premium tech did something creepy in my camera and made it turn off after I used a strobe.
Camera works fine, but there is no way I'm putting that thing back in! I need to know if i got taken (Accessorycircuit.com) - Canon HV20, HV30 & HV40 User Forum

And the beat goes on and on and on......
Too many complaints, from to many quarters, for my liking... When dealing with any unknown merchant, whether local or not, it is absolutely incumbent upon the buyer to perform due diligence..
