I mean to post this months back, but always slipped my mind.
As I posted previously, I had a good friend who bought a system from MaxForce. He had such good luck with it, that he had one built for his parents. He always spoke highly of Max's work and the customer service provided.
As a result of this, I had been interested in doing the same for myself. I flip-flopped on the issue many times. I priced factory systems, but was always disappointed with a variety of factory purchase issues in the past. The main thing that prevented me from making the plunge was the security net of a good warranty. Later, I read that Maxforce had extended his warranty.
My father got in the market for a new computer and I mentioned it to him. After much research and back and forth with Max about suggestions, he had a unit built. At first the system had some minor issues, and he couldn't figure out a few things. But after some time, these worked out. No major problems and today he is completely satisfied with the unit.
Finally last January, I made arrangements to have Max build a system for me. I had knocked around some specs in the past, and finally nailed down what I wanted. Max is very good about providing ideas, hardware suggestions, and pricing. My friend added all the costs up one day for his, and ended up spending less on wholesale parts than if he bought them himself. He didn't think Max made much off of the whole deal. But I digress.
It took a few weeks to get my system in. There was some issue with a couple of parts being out of stock. I didn't mind the wait as long as it was all done right. I wasn't disappointed. I ended up spending about $1350 on an Intel Core 2 Quad 9400 2.66Ghz, 8 gb of RAM, Windows Vista 64-bit, and a EVGA GTX 260 superclocked with 896mb of DDR 3 (plus other specs). I was able to buy a nice 22 inch LG monitor after all of this, due to coming in on my bugdet.
I haven't had any issues with this system so far. Its blazing fast and plays any and every game I've put on here...lag free. I opted not to get any extra software like Word, etc. But I've simply put on Openoffice to take care of that need, as well as Avast pro.
I would recommend this system to any interested in having a custom machine built. Max is always helpful over the phone or via email. He is very honest with you about costs and the time-frame. You can't get better customer service than Max.
Even if you aren't sold on the idea, check out his website and peruse his wares. Go to the forums and post a suggestion about what needs you have and what you are interested in. You may be pleasantly surprised at what he can come up with.
