i wouldn't buy a sony...they may look nice (snazzy), but their post-sale support on their computer products is the pits.
if you aren't going to game on it (ie you don't need a souped-up video option), then there are quite a lot of good brands to choose from. figure out what you want to spend and then comparison shop.
