internet connection problem windows xp home

I have a problem with a computer running XP Home.

It seems like it can't connect to the internet via Internet explorer. I can ping addresses like Yahoo's and get a result. But I can't use internet explorer to view web pages.

I have a Linksys Wireless router but disabled DHCP and have manually entered the IP address. I can't even access the router by using 192.168.1.1 in the browser but I can share files and ping other computers on the internet and on my LAN.

Also I have these 2 pictures. the only difference between the computers that work and the one that doesn't is that in the Network connections windows there is a connection called "Internet COnnection" and this does not show up on the computer that Im having trouble with. Can someone tell me how to get it working?

THis is a picture or what a working computer's network connections look like...
