I'm mixed about JR.com. This is the second time I've ordered from them. The first time, I ordered through Amazon to get an item from JR.com (yay gift cards!) The item took much longer than other orders I've placed with Amazon. It took almost 2 weeks. I disregarded it as a fluke.
This time around, I bought a DSLR, and wanted to be sure I bought from a "reputable" place that was "authorized" by Nikon. No grey market stuff. So I picked JR.com. They weren't the cheapest to start off with, but mixed with the Live.com cashback, price matching, they became the cheapest.
On the positive side. My package arrived as expected in good working condition. The price matching process was very easy, and the customer service reps were courteous.
On the negative side. I was expecting my package in 3 days. The website states (Usually ships in 1 - 2 business days) It doesn't. I placed the order on 8/19. On 8/22 I called asking about the order. I was informed that it takes 1-2 business days to process, not ship. Well..it's the 3rd day and it's "processing"
That was an acceptable answer to me, I figure if it ships on the 22 (Friday) it should arrive by the 26th (Tuesday-latest) given that JR.com is less than 20 miles away from me.
Later on the 22nd, I get a call stating my expiration date for my card was wrong. I was skeptical, being that I just made 2 other purchases within the past 2 days. So I confirmed it, and they told me that they would process it. I get another call around 5:30pm on that friday again, stating my expiration date was wrong. Unfortunately, I missed that call and by the time I called back, they were closed. So I waited. Monday came and I called them first thing. "Oh, you updated us on Friday?" Yea..I did, Friday morning. So I re-confirmed my expiration date. And the person I spoke to this time said they would call me right back to let me know if it goes through or not....
Next thing I knew, it was Tuesday. No call. So again, I called. This time a bit annoyed. I asked what's going on, since I haven't heard anything. I had to stay on the line while they confirmed - wasn't hanging up this time. They finally told me it was confirmed. It shipped on August 26. One week after I placed my order. Since I'm so close, it did arrive in 1 day and I received it on August 27th.
Overall, the product works. If you need something to arrive reliably at a certain time, I would say do not buy from JR.com. If you don't care when it arrives, but want to be sure you get a good product at a store that will give you the lowest price (even if its through price match) then buy from JR.com.

Great price, very fast order processing, quick shipping, and very good packaging. Product arrived as described and in excellent condition. This deal went about as well as a deal can go, so I'll definitely order from J&R Computer again.

I had heard of the mixed reviews on here, but I knew they had been around forever, and had heard good things word-of-mouth. They had the new Canon XSi at the best price (same as Amazon) and 6 month SAC, so I went for it. My order came in 2 days and in perfect condition. Nice camera! Based on that, I would give them a positive review, though I had no idea how customer service was since I hadn't needed it.
But, over the next week, I kept my eye on the price at Amazon. First, it dropped by $50, then $90. Not really betting on a price match, I called them, got a very nice CSR with about 30 seconds on hold. She was very nice, and after 5 minutes getting approval, she offered me a refund or gift card for $90. I took the gift card and it came in about 3-4 days.
While Amazon had the same price, their free shipping isn't nearly as fast as this was. I'm a very happy camper.

i ordered a Zalman ZM1000-HP from them through Amazon.com (because they had the best price, and a very good reputation) on July 11,2008. Received it 5 days later through UPS, which means it was delivered in a satisfactory time frame. However, when I opened the box, the box was very poorly packaged, resulted the power suppy to be defective. This wasn't a big deal, it just meant I need to get a replacement. Called up JR, and they sent me another one, giving me return labels. Their method was that I buy another one, and they would refund me the first product. The problem with this is that the second time I "placed the order" the cost was higher, so I called in, and they price matched it to the first item. No problem, a little inconvenient, but nothing drastic.
Second item came, BADLY packaged again. I opened it up, and it suffered from the same issues as the first one: poor packaging, dented power supply -- thus not allowing me to mount it on my pc case. Called it in the next day, telling them I waited 2 weeks for this, and it's still not good. I sent them pictures of the packaging and the damage that resulted from poor packaging (along with a picture from the internet on how a GOOD one should look like), and they said they would check the item before it shipped, and they would package the item better. They said they would check the item before it goes out (that way, I can assure it wasn't the fault of the place that sent them the power supply) and if they packaged the item better, I should get a GOOD power supply.
3rd one came, 8/1/2008, and I was EXTREMELY dissatisfied to find that the box was STILL poorly packaged. The power supply (ONCE AGAIN) suffered from the SAME DENT, at the SAME place. I called in today 8/2/2008 to be greeted by a representative named Julie, who was very uncourteous and just wanted to get the job done (instead of providing me with service, she just wanted to finish with whatever she had, as if she was having a bad day) which gave me a bad sense of the organization. Granted, she did follow through and told me she would send me return labels.
Obviously if I go for a 4th time, I would be EVEN MORE disatisfied with my order, as it would probably be the same thing. I'm done wasting time and money on this item, as I should've ordered it from Newegg.com in the first place. I've NEVER had any issues with them, and their customer service is VERY QUICK AND PROMPT, and are EXTREMELY courteous.
I've ordered from JR.com before (Nikon D300), and now I'm worried about THAT item will fail due to poor packaging.
My dealings with them left me very inconfident of their dealings, and I will NOT purchase from them anymore. Not listening to their customers is an extreme issue that I believe should've been corrected the first time!

I placed an order on 7/28 with the standard ground shipping. my package was promptly shipped and arrived on exactly the day UPS said it would. although the latter wasn't something J&R can take credit from, their service was efficient.

I used to like JR for music and videos as well as some electronic, but my last several experiances with them told me to STOP using them.
There order process indicates items available, then you receive emails indicating its out of stock. Then they ship what they think is a viable alternative but it really is not.
When you talk to Customer No Service, they tell you one thing and do another.
I've shopped the internet for more than 10 years and have see the full monty and they have become one of the worst online retailers I have ver done business with.
Note, my last attempt was in late 2006 and I have not even bothered to go to their site any more. Enough said!

I got a decent deal on a 43mm wide angle lens. I was unsure of dealing with this website due to other reviews, but stuck by for the great price. A little slow on the shipping, but well within their expected dates. I will very certainly be using J&R again in the future, as I appreciate a price-matching certified dealer.
